With Christmas around the corner, Chester is jam-packed with events for you and your family to do to spark your Christmas spirit!
Delamere Forest is becoming an illuminated array of lights, baubles and trees to get us into the festive spirit. The lights will create beautiful displays as you tiptoe your way around the woods. Father Christmas may even make an appearance! Food and drink will be available to purchase along the route.

The Chester Zoo lanterns are back for another year! The zoo magically transforms into an array of illuminations as the evening begins. There will be a range of animal lanterns and Christmas characters as you walk around the zoo. Food and drink stations are also dotted around the park so you can get into the Christmas spirit with a mulled wine or a with some pigs in blankets. Rumour has it, Father Christmas will also be making an appearance!

Located in the heart of Chester, the Christmas Markets will be filling our hearts, and most probably bellies with Christmas goodness! Handmade gifts, treats and crafts will be on display showcasing Chester’s local talent. This is the perfect opportunity to grab those stocking fillers, or to treat yourself to a mulled wine or two! The Christmas Markets will be located in-between Chester Cathedral and Chester Town Hall, and open seven days a week, so there's no excuse to miss this festive event.
After huge success with their production of A Christmas Carol last year, The Storyhouse are showcasing Oliver Twist, continuing with their Charles Dickens theme! The play will showcase a range of feel-good songs, as well as plenty of kids and dogs. The perfect way to spend a December evening!
Walk through the stunning Cathedral as over 50 Christmas trees twinkle and shine. The Christmas trees are decorated by local schools, businesses and charities, sharing the festive spirit. They will also have their Starry Starry Night sculpture which depicts constellations across the heights of the Cathedral. The Cathedral is free to visit, however, they kindly ask for donations after a difficult year following the pandemic. Explore the Cathedral in a way you have never before.
