Grooms walk hand in hand after exchanging their vows at stunning outdoor wedding ceremony

What made you choose Rowton Hall Hotel as your venue?

We had searched online for gay wedding venues, there are a few sites that cater for the LGBTQ+ community. We came up with a short list which was so varied from venues which were close to home to others farther away.

We chose Rowton Hall because of a number of reasons. The venue was ideally placed as we have family in London through to Scotland and we didn't want any particular group to travel farther than others. As such we needed a great number of hotel rooms for guests and a place for them to 'chill' the day before. The Spa offered this.

Lastly, it was the venue itself and the grounds which provided us with the ideal backdrop for an outdoor wedding, should the weather be good enough on the day. Being a venue in its own grounds that gave us the space to take care of our dog, Bruce the Boxer's, needs, giving him some space to run around etc.

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Oh gosh there are too many to mention but for us, it was a day filled with many emotions, Seeing months of work come together, walking up the garden to begin the ceremony, being able to mingle with family afterwards to the amazing service and food being delivered by the staff on the day.

The willingness and enthusiasm from Amy and the rest of the staff was something that really made a mark on ourselves and every guest. Nothing was too much trouble and the day was faultless from morning to midnight.

What did you wear and what did your guests wear?

So the theme was dress to impress but with a more casual theme in that we did not go for the classic morning suit look but the wedding guests looked amazing with their colours and hats.

We bought our linen suits from Boss in Birmingham, Erol the manager pulled it out the bag requesting stock from other stores and our final fitting was literally Monday before the wedding. That was a panic!

Tell us about your wedding theme and how you dressed the venue?

Our theme was cream and white with of course some foliage. The napkins were sage green and each guests wedding breakfast menu choices were supplied on a card with their name. These had a wax Bumble bee seal stamped on them. This was tied together with wedding favours of wild flower seed packs for our guests. A real celebration of nature and of course the fabulous gardens at Rowton Hall.

Words of wedding wisdom?

On reflection we think we left a number of things until the last couple of months. As we own our own business, time is short as you can imagine. We then found ourselves sitting at laptops night, after night finalising menus, music play lists on spotify and the individual guest menus and name cards..

We also thought that we'd wait until the summer to choose our suits but didn't start the process shopping for these until about 6 weeks out. We'd been on a diet and thought it best to wait until closer to our weight goal for the day. Many shops were short on sizes and some styles, questionable.
